About the Bruce R. Thompson Inn of Court The American Inns of Court was founded in 1980 with the encouragement of the Chief Justice of the United States Warren E. Burger, Ninth Circuit Judge J. Clifford Wallace and Rex E. Lee, dean of the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University and later Solicitor General of the United States. There are now over 300 Inns of Court which promote the goals of legal excellence, civility, professionalism and ethics in legal communities throughout the United States. The Thompson Inn was founded in 1988 and named after United States District Judge Bruce R. Thompson, a distinguished Nevadan and eminent jurist who demonstrated the guiding principles of the Inns of Court movement throughout his long legal and judicial career. Admission to the Thompson Inn is available to all northern Nevada lawyers and judges by invitation. The Inn is composed of Masters, who are judges and lawyers with over ten years experience in the law, Barristers, who have over two years experience and Associate members, who are enrolled in an accredited law school or recent law school graduates. The Inn meets monthly and all judges and lawyers are
welcome to attend our programs, which normally satisfy State Bar of Nevada continuing legal education requirements.
